Same-day shipping is the cheapest marketing you can do. Ship everything paid before 2 pm the same day.
Every morning
Open the Orders board and look at New and Paid.
Print pick lists and pack by the oldest ship-by date first.
Check each order against the pick list before sealing the box.
Add tracking and press Mark shipped.
Cutoffs
Orders paid before 2 pm ship that day. Later ones ship the next business day and the customer is told so at checkout.
A friendly return policy sells more than it costs. Make it easy and fast.
Steps
Ask for the order number and a photo if something arrived damaged.
Send a prepaid label for damage or errors; the customer pays return shipping for change of mind.
On receipt, inspect, restock if sellable and mark the order Returned.
Refund within two business days.
Review
Every Friday, look at the Returns list for a pattern: one product, one supplier or one description.
Selling something you do not have is the most expensive mistake an online shop makes.
Steps
Count one shelf at a time on Monday.
Update On hand on the Products list.
Reorder anything marked Reorder, using the supplier lead time to decide the quantity.
Hide a product online when it hits zero.
Lead times
Ceramics take three weeks. Candles ten days. Order with enough room for a surprise sale.
