How to read the numbers
A good quote is quick, specific and states the deadline you can really meet.
Quoting
Open the file and count the words; check for repeated text and images with text.
Choose the language pair and the rate from the client row.
Add a rush surcharge only when the deadline needs it, and say so.
Send the quote with the due date, the format of the delivery and what you need from the client.
Assigning
Open Available linguists and filter by the main language pair.
Check specialty, words per day and last used date.
Offer the job; wait for a yes before changing the linguist on the job row.
Rule of thumb
Divide the word count by the linguist's words per day to see if the deadline is realistic.
Why it matters
Clients notice inconsistent terms faster than they notice style. A glossary fixes this once.
Building a glossary
Collect terms from the client's earlier documents and style guide.
Add each term with its approved translation and the language pair.
Ask the client to approve; tick Approved by client when they do.
Using it
Send the approved terms to the linguist with the job.
Ask the reviewer to check term use and report misses.
Add new terms after delivery.
Unapproved terms are suggestions. Mark the row clearly so nobody treats them as final.
What gets reviewed
Every legal and medical job gets a second linguist. Marketing jobs are reviewed by sample.
The check
The reviewer reads the translation against the source.
They note accuracy, terminology, style and formatting issues separately.
The score and main findings go on the quality check row.
The project manager sends corrections to the linguist and confirms they were applied.

Send the files with a short note listing what is included.
Press Send to client and make sure the job row shows Delivered.
Ask the client to flag any change requests within five working days.
After delivery
Add new terms to the glossary.
Record the quality score.
Thank the linguist and note anything for next time.
